Banner of Love ♡
He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love- Song of Solomon 2:4.
A banquet is not a picnic, nor those little chic gatherings where hors d'oeuvre are served. No, a banquet is the crown jewel of meals. It is course after course of culinary delight and entertainment. Let me guide your thoughts to one of the iconic photographs of The Duchess, Kate Middleton staring adoringly into her Prince’s face on their wedding day; a picture truly worth a thousand words. He had brought her into his banqueting house and he had just sworn to have and to hold her from that day onward, to love and to cherish her till death separated them. Beautiful isn’t it? The dream of every little girl and the prayer of every bride. To be treasured and loved in ways no words can describe. In the real world, you may have a glimpse of earthly true love, but even the purest forms of love such as maternal love would pale in comparison to the love of God described in this verse of scripture. A love without blemish. We go through life searching for satisfaction in created things (yes, that includes your cute baby and not-so-cute teenager, your husband, siblings, parents, love-interest, pets and passions). We aggressively seek satisfaction in material success which is like a bottomless pit that never gets filled. We fulfil our body’s physical needs, and still there remains a hunger that only the one that crafted us can fill. As Rick Warren always says, “if you want to know the use of a thing, go find its manufacturer”. To become useful to yourself and the planet, you’ve got to really know about the one that made you…and why. Don’t hear about him from other people all the time. Take time to discover Him. Everything in creation points to the existence of a higher power, a higher intelligence that wove a glorious pattern and created every intricate design of nature. Deep down in the human heart we know it’s no accident. At some point, the hunger to know the whole point of this existence becomes an ache that only the one true Son of God can satisfy. Seek and you will find Him. The highest prince came to earth thousands of years ago and loved me enough to die for me. He is inviting every one of us into His banquet of love where we will eat and drink and never get hungry or thirsty again (John 4: 13-14). Question is, will you accept the party invite? It is strictly by invitation and admits one only. You. Will you come for Heavens biggest event? Jesus Christ wants you to seek Him while you are young and strong. Don’t procrastinate. For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
